Dear Filson Family and Friends.
This is the first issue of The Filson Newsletter and it's being initiated so that we may keep in touch throughout the year. We can announce family news, submit articles or anecdotes that have been passed down from our parents and grandparents, provide missing family tree names, dates, etc. to be included on The Filson website, update incorrect addresses, and suggest ideas for upcoming reunions.
The 8th Annual Filson Reunion is now history. In spite of the high temperature we had a good turnout and the meal was outstanding. (Spoken by one who truly loves to eat!) The auction was a blast, as usual, and we raised $504 for the fund to help with next year's expenses, flowers for bereaved families who have the loss of a dear one, and taxes on Filson Mountain. Ronnie Filson, Randy Filson, and Charlotte Filson Gore have done an exceptional job of organizing and coordinating our reunions for the last 7 years. They deserve our thanks and gratitude for all their hard work. Sam Filson (we call him Buddy) has agreed to take over the reins and he has an excellent team to assist him. Randy will continue to help in any way that he can, Tommy Glenn Lambert and his sister Kim Lambert Hamilton have agreed to help, and Ruth (Scotty) and Anna (Don) Harover, Charlotte Filson Gore, Kellie (Jamey) Filson, and I will provide clerical support.
We are all very proud of our history, heritage, and values and it is my hope that we will soon have a lot more family stories, information, and pictures to include on the website and to pass on to our children and their children.
